About the Proprietress
I have always been fascinated by little worlds. Snowglobes and kaleidoscopes were something that kept my preoccupation for good, long, whiles at a time. I can certainly find that creating little frozen moments in resin with sparkle, or soap clouds, or bits of nature and the like to recapture those simple moments. This endeavor has been a culmination of many years of creating uncomplicated everyday art in various forms such as with nails, sugar, and now resin dice. I hope you enjoy gazing into them, and enjoy using them in telling your tales, as much as I have enjoyed making them for you. This shop is a labor of love, as I attempt for most things to be that I contribute to. By way of having been, first and foremost, a theater kid & horse girl, I am now a licensed attorney (currently on sabbatical from the courtroom), writer, cake artist, belly dance instructor, professional volunteer, dice smith, and a mother to one enchanting human and a multitude of other creatures that have taken up residence in our family hollow.
By the night sky above and the rolling blue below, I wish you and all the tales you tell, well.
Your Huckleberry Friend,
~Talia
Handmade Dice
Our dice are handcrafted. Each one is sanded, polished and painted by a living, breathing, mostly caffeinated, always just a little haunted, human. All photos are taken in natural light or under common, everyday indoor household fixtures (with the exception of UV and/or blacklight reactive dice - in which we use an actual blacklight to highlight their ability to glow). No photos are edited with filters. We would like to present them for you as you will experience them for yourself at your story table.
Are they balanced? All of our dice are checked for their ability to produce random outcomes before they are offered for sale. Will you be able to roll them against the House in Vegas? No. No one's hand crafted dice have been invited to any high stakes gambling saloon. However, we trust that they will be true and faithful companions on your storytelling journey. Small imperfections may sometimes occur. Much like love interests, friends, co-workers, and any given beach day - if you stare at something long enough, you are likely to find something imperfect about it. Such is the nature of things crafted by humans for humans, but like a great many humans, these too are made with a lot of love, a little luck, and a 115% guarantee protection against haints, boo hags, and walk-ins.
Friends from the Other Side
My dice crafting journey would not have been started if not for the COVID-19 Pandemic and a group of fellow quarantinees other side of the pond from where we are at Moon River. One of them created our site logo (Hannah Newman-Plummer). Once, and for a long while, we made beautiful stories, and told adventurous tales, but then the crossroads came as crossroads are want to do. See that's the thing about fortunes, darlin's, the Lady Fate weaves tales both fair and foul. You just gotta roll with what you're dealt. So we keep rollin'.
